Parking Permit Options

Individuals needing to park on campus have several permit options to choose from based on the frequency and length of time they will be on campus.  Each permit type has different parking options and costs vary.  Customers can buy by the hour, day, week, or month based on their individual needs.

If you are not commuting to campus regularly, the 10-pack permit option might be the best choice.  The 10-pack Blue or Red allows customers to have 10 one-day permits to use for when they will be driving to campus.  You will be required to go online up to 3 days in advance and reserve a permit from a list of available lots.  Available spaces for each day may change based on lot utilization.  All 10-pack permits will expire on June 30th.  No refunds will be issued for unused days.

For those individuals that had Blue or Red permits prior to the campus closure, lot assignments were held until January 7, 2022.  Additional information, including permits and pricing, can be obtained by calling our offices at 951-827-8277 (TAPS) Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

Program Service Changes

License Plate Recognition (LPR) was rolled out during Summer 2022 and is utilized to verify parking privileges.  Physical hang tag permits have been phased out and customers are issued a virtual parking permit in our parking systems that will be valid on any vehicle that you designate.  The license plate of any vehicle you bring on campus must be linked to your current virtual permit.  You can manage the vehicles linked to your permit by going online to your Parking Account.  Detailed instructions on adding a vehicle to your permit is available online.  Multiple vehicles may be linked to a permit but a permit is only valid for one vehicle on campus at a time.  Any additional vehicles found on campus the same day, under the same virtual permit, will be subject to citation.

Motorist Assistance Program continues to operate with normal service hours. Services such as a battery jump start, vehicle lockout, and emergency gas delivery are available Monday through Friday 7:00 AM - 10:00 PM and Saturday through Sunday 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM.  To request this service, call 951-827-4133 or 951-288-1143.

RTA UPASS Program - You can utilize RTA transit buses for free.  Instead of swiping your R’Card on the bus, RTA has switched to a new, contactless fare system in which you use your mobile device to board.  Free mobile bus passes are available to all students, faculty, and staff. Get instructions on how to register for the free pass.  Check out RTA's website for the most up to date information and schedules.

Telework (working remotely) is now an accepted commute mode within the R’Commute (alternative transportation) Program.  If you telework at least twice per week and do not purchase a monthly, quarterly or annual parking permit you may qualify for one free 10-pack per quarter through the R’Commute Program.  Rules and eligibility can be found online.
