First-Year Resident Parking Information

Due to limited parking availability, as well as to support UCR’s sustainability efforts, first-year residents are not allowed to bring a vehicle to campus.  We understand that due to certain situations, some first-year students may need a vehicle.  As of this time, all first year housing permits have been allocated.

  • First Year Resident Parking Reasons for Appeal
    • Off-Campus Job (For students working at off campus locations not served by public transportation. The job must be verifiable, current, continuous, and off campus. The job must be within 50 miles of campus. )
    • Off-Campus Internship for credit (For students completing an internship for academic credit at an off-campus location.  Credit internships require at least 10 hours of work per week.  The internship must be local, verifiable, current, continuous, and off campus.  )
    • Concurrent Enrollment (For students enrolled in another institution for in person classes or field study course.)
    • Healthcare Appointments (For students that require frequent healthcare appointments. This is not used for medical or disability related parking needs.  Will be coordinated with Student Disability Resource Center)
    • Family Care Provider (For students who are primary caregivers to a parent, grandparent, child or sibling)
    • Safety Issues (For students who have suffered a crime-related incident (e.g. stalking or threats). Will be coordinated with UCPD)
    • Recent Death (For students who have suffered the death of a parent, sibling, or child in the last 12 months)
