Caltrans District 8 is continuing work on a major $22.7 million pavement rehabilitation project along Interstate 215 south of the SR-91/60 junction to south of Martin Luther King Boulevard near Riverside. The project, scheduled for completion by fall 2026, includes new pavement, enhanced guardrail features, ADA curb ramps, and updated roadway signage.

Work operations will take place primarily during evening and overnight hours to minimize daytime traffic disruption. Commuters should expect disruptions occurring in both directions weekly from Monday through Friday, 8:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., concluding early Saturday mornings.

Alternating lane and ramp closures may occur as needed as early as 7:00 p.m. However, two interstate lanes will always remain open for through access.

Lane Closures

  • Northbound and Southbound I-215 from MLK Boulevard to Spruce Street and Chicago Avenue: Alternating lanes closed (2 lanes remain open for through traffic)

Ramp Closures

  • Northbound and Southbound MLK Boulevard On-Ramp: Full closure
  • Eastbound 91 / Eastbound 60 Connector: Full closure
  • Northbound 215 / Westbound 91 Connector: Full closure
  • Southbound 215 / Eastbound 60 Connector: Full closure

Plan ahead! Drivers are urged to proceed cautiously through the work zone and follow all indicated signage for the safety of construction crews and fellow motorists. Please allow extra time for your commute and consider alternative routes when possible.
